Jesse said he would trick Frieda and Wooly while he took Joe Zeus for a walk at the nature preserve, but no way were they the least bit tricked when Jesse and Zeus went to Rhoen's house. After more than 30 minutes of anxious pacing and howling, they laid themselves on the kitchen floor and cried.

Jesse's bowling game was off, and he wants to switch to basketball, but I caught a couple of strikes.

I'm in love with northern Idaho, but all the rocks for miles were black or gray depending on how wet they were on the road from Orofino along the Lewis and Clark trail.



Carlin Bay marina, from the deck of the little smokey tavern on the edge of the lake 13 miles north of Harrison. There was no other restaurant open for forty or fifty miles in either direction.

40 trains per day go through Sandpoint, Idaho, population 7000. We heard no train whistles or horns.

The Snake and the Clearwater below Lewiston. I accidently took the crazy road going down the mountain instead of turning left onto the easier newer highway.




Hell's Gate Lewis and Clark interactive learning center was all about a part (Idaho) of their epic journey and about the compassion and helpfulness of the native people of many different tribes across the country.

I was driving so I usually missed the pictures I wanted.
the scenery was sometimes spectacular and strange.

Our room in Orofino had a beautiful view. By 6:00 AM, a fly fisherman was standing hip deep in Clearwater River. This man was out a little later in the morning.




Orofino Creek runs into Clearwater River near the Orofino Bridge. Lewis and Clark traveled in canoes one this river in their epic adventure to the ocean.

Orofino is a town of about 500. Orofino was named for fine(gold).

The hotel caters to sportsmen during the hunting and fishing seasons.



The drive to and from Orofino was beautiful and some places spectacular.


Driving north along the east side of the lake the road Cour d"Alene, 13 miles past Harrison, we stopped for lunch here.

In the Bridge stores at Sandpoint was a man with an Indian store who will be going to Brenda, Arizona. My mother knew the (then) girl Brenda was named for and it is so small there isn't even a gas station.



Yesterday I bought gas for $3.02 and today we saw gas for $2.93.



This overlooks Lewiston and the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers.

Now we are in Orofino and this is our view from our really nice Best Western room.

Yesterday I attended a nicely done bellydance show near my house and sat with my old friend Diane Antonitis. Valerie was featured, and her beautiful and kind daughter Anna and her whole family except for Orion was there. Val said she bought a new dress on the internet and that was the reason she danced, so she could wear it. Valerie was the best in show, but it was a good show all the way through.

I love this: the painting we see stepping off the elevator lobby on the top floor of the school of theology in the center for ethics.
